In 1738 Rev. Hezekiah Bissell was the first pastor of Winronbury Parish (now the First Congregational Church in Bloomfield) and served for 45 years until his death in 1783. The Bissell House, built in 1750, is located on the site of 669 Bloomfield Ave. . His headstone is located in Old Wintonbury Cemetery.
